Cynthia and Ian Celebrate their Love in the Backdrop of the Iconic Great Smoky Mountains National Park

I was thrilled to hear Ian and Cynthia wanted to do their engagement photos in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. When talking about specific locations, Cade's Cove immediately caught their attention. They loved the variation of backgrounds and the historical structures scattered throughout the drive!

Ian and Cynthia enjoyed a full weekend in the Gatlinburg area, making a little getaway out of their session. When they came across Tennessee Homemade Wines in Gatlinburg the day before our shoot, they loved their blackberry wine so much, they purchased their wedding wine there! They brought along a bottle and a couple glasses as a fun memento to include in the photos.

Originally we had planned on taking photos in February, but due to the control burns happening at the time, we ended up rescheduling to April. Every season in Cade's Cove has something to offer, but spring is especially colorful, and it's still pretty quiet before the busy Summer season. We went with a weekday afternoon in order to avoid the weekend rush, and it felt like we practically had the cove to ourselves!

When planning a session in Cade's Cove, it's always a great idea to have a detailed meeting plan with your photographer. In and around the national park, you'll find there's little cell service, if any. Because of this, I always an exact meeting point to my clients! I also make sure to send a little photo of myself and my car so they know who they're looking for!

On the topic of logistics, if you're comfortable with it, I also recommend carpooling! During busy months many of the best pull-offs for photos have limited parking. Riding together simplifies things. I picked up Cynthia and Ian in the parking area just before the entrance of the cove, where you can also pick up your parking pass at the kiosks.

Riding together also provides some extra time to chat and get to know each other! Ian and Cynthia are truly the sweetest couple, and there was no better place to get acquainted than this stunning location. In the end, we had an awesome time and created some unforgettable memories.
