From a Dreamy Airbnb to a Snowcapped Sunset at Carver’s Gap

I can’t believe I’m just now getting around to posting my favorite images from Ashleigh and Jarrett’s fall elopement at Roan Mountain State Park!

From the snow capped mountains in these photos, you probably wouldn’t guess their elopement day was November 1. That being said, winter tends to come a little earlier at these elevations! The night before their elopement, the mountains were dusted with a beautiful snowfall.

By the next evening, the snow had melted off the roads, but most of the foliage at the top of Carvers Gap had already gone for the season. Luckily, their beautiful Airbnb at a lower elevation was still surrounded by vibrant fall color.

We started the day taking photos at the cabin, and I love their detail and getting ready photos so much!

The first look shots bring a big smile to my face every time. I also made sure to grab a few portraits here before we headed up the mountain.

This Airbnb had so many beautiful features. One of my favorites was the cute little swing on the porch!

From where they were staying just outside the park, it was a beautiful 20 minute drive. Eloping in the off season meant fewer crowds, and we were able to find parking in the typically busy lot before hiking our way up!

We only hiked about half a mile before we were above the treeline and surrounded by the most incredible 360 degree views of the mountains around us! We took our time making portraits as the sun set, and these two were absolute troopers in the cold.

If all my elopements were in the Roan Highlands, I wouldn’t even be mad! Though this area is known to be remote, the raw beauty is hard to beat. Thank you, Ashleigh and Jarrett, for trusting me to document such a meaningful day!
